The UAB Department of Urology is recruiting urologists to join a community based UAB Urology practice located at the new UAB Medicine Multispecialty Clinic at Baptist Medical Center South, a UAB Medicine affiliate hospital in Montgomery, Alabama.
These are non-academic, 100% clinical based positions that will provide community based inpatient and outpatient urology services. There is also opportunity to participate in the teaching responsibilities of third and fourth year medical students at the UAB School of Medicine regional campus and participate in the UAB Department of Urology faculty meetings, clinical trials and educational offerings.

The hospital provides support for the UAB Urology program including a fully staffed office, mid-level providers, experienced RN clinic and floor nurses as well as a premier robotics program and OR support team with da Vinci robotic Xi and Si equipment.
Candidates with robotics experience as well as general urology interests are needed.
Candidates must be board certified or board eligible with solid training and ability to receive licensure and credentialing in the State of Alabama.

The nationally ranked UAB Department of Urology is recognized for its advanced clinical practices, educational programs and scientific inquiry through clinical, basic and translational research.The University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Urology is one of the few nationally ranked urologic programs in the Southeast United States. Composed of 22 faculty and a large patient care team, we provide expertise to evaluate and treat the spectrum of urologic subspecialties. Our program is dedicated to research in clinical areas, basic science investigations and the translational component that links these two.Dean G. Assimos, M.D., is the inaugural chair of the Department of Urology. Assimos is an internationally known researcher and clinician who came to UAB from Wake Forest University, where he was vice chair of urology. He has been actively involved in the establishment of practice guidelines in urology and is on the editorial board of the Journal of Endourology. Assimos also contributes to the urologic survey section of the Journal of Urology. He is an NIH-funded physician scientist whose research has focused on endogenous oxalate synthesis and the role of dietary oxalate in kidney stone formation.
