The RN for will perform clinical duties as directed by the Associate Nurse Executive through the Clinical Operations Nurse Manager Surgery Service, Clinical Operations Assistant Nurse Manager Surgery , and Head Nurse (or designee). This position requires flexibility in schedule/assignment, to facilitate 24/7 delivery of patient care. Must be poised/articulate in communicating and willing to work cooperatively as a member of a team in all assignments. The RN will provide safe, basic care at the Central Arkansas Veterans HealthCare System, Little Rock, while providing a full range of nursing care to patients with complex care needs utilizing the nursing process by demonstrating consistent clinical competence, initiating and implementing interdisciplinary plan of care based on assessment, and accurately documents in patient medical records. Duties included but are not limited to the following: Coordinate/oversee clinic activity and patient flow Work closely with and assist in all patient care activities within RN Scope of Practice Documentation as required by any patient intervention/interaction Check patients into exam room and obtain, document, and communicate to provider vital signs and other patient information Triage phone calls/patient requests Answer and triage secure messaging Act as a patient advocate Act as a liason/coordinator with private sector providers concerning patient cancer treatment Stock exam rooms and conduct daily inspection of all clinic areas Ensure all clinic areas meet regulations for environment of care survey readiness Order supplies from central supply and medication from pharmacy Schedule appointments and procedures Assist with encounter reconciliation Assist with ensuring residents/interns/providers are meeting documentation compliance measures Ensuring appropriate patient consents are charted Enter work orders as needed Communicate with service administration concerning any issues/needs that impact the clinic Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 07:30am - 4:00pm with possible rotation due to needs of the service.
