This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more Surgery Service is looking for a Nurse Practitioner to work in the area of Urology. The duties & responsibilities will be at the direction of the Chief of Surgery. The NP will be fully qualified & certified to function in a clinical role & in accordance with the guidelines & policies of the Marion VA Medical Center. The NP is delegated the authority & responsibility to assume clinical, consultation, educational, research, & administrative duties & responsibilities related to patients and staff. Clinical: Primary focus of practice is the clinical management of health care to the veterans assigned to Surgery service. Facilitates care of urologic patient's as well as their entry and exit from various health care systems by establishing and maintaining liaison with a variety of medical specialists and associated staff. Assist with clinical aspects of care to the patients of urology services. This includes evaluations, consultations and the writing of orders. The midlevel provider has the authority to order all tests and procedures necessary to evaluate and care for these patients. These evaluations and orders will fall within the bylaws of the Marion VAMC. Initiates and accepts referrals to clinics and/or community agencies. The provider collaborates with other health care resources to insure timely and appropriate care of patients. Potential to assist in the Procedure Room at the direction of the Chief of Surgery. Perform procedures within their realm of expertise and under the direction of the Chief of Surgery and in accordance with the individuals Scope of Practice. Assist other Mid- Level providers assigned to the Urology service as needed. Other clinical duties as assigned by the Chief of Surgery. Administrative: Coordinate referrals, scheduling and evaluation of veterans at the Marion VAMC, outside VA's and private sector referrals of veterans to urology in Surgery Service. Attend committee meetings and process action teams to represent the Surgery service at the direction of the Chief of Surgery service. Facilitate response/actions to patient inquires to care and treatment received by the Urology service. Assist the other Mid-Level providers assigned to Urology service with administrative and clinical concerns as needed. Function as the liaison between the Chief of Surgery and Sub-specialty services on clinical issues. Other administrative duties as assigned by the Chief of Surgery or Administrative Officer.
