The Department of Pediatrics at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center is seeking an experienced clinician in Critical Care at the Associate or Professor Level to serve as Division Chief for Pediatric Critical Care. The leader will have a proven record of accomplishment in leadership, clinical service, patient care, research and scholarship, education and mentorship. This innovative, academic leader will have program oversight responsibility for the Pediatric Intensive Care Division, which includes oversight of the Pediatric Hospitalists group, which has an active section chief.
The position includes patient care responsibilities in a state of the art, 20 bed multi-disciplinary Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, which averages 1200 admissions per year. UNM is the main referral center for the entire state and surrounding areas. The program includes a full complement of pediatric medical and surgical subspecialties including pediatric surgery, pediatric neurosurgery, pediatric ENT, pediatric urology and pediatric anesthesiology. Clinical services also include pediatric sedation service, and ECMO program.
UNM serves a diverse patient population and is the only Level 1 Trauma center for the state. The Department of Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care Division have a long tradition of providing outstanding, comprehensive care to the children of New Mexico.
Able to obtain state licensure(s) in the state of New Mexico
BC/BE in Pediatric Critical Care
Ten years clinical experience
Experience with professional education, teaching and research
Experience with ECMO
Experience with care of the pediatric cardiothoracic surgery and trauma patient
Evidence of leadership roles in academic medicine
Experience mentoring of junior faculty
A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
